Cryptocurrency exchange liquidity analysis
Choosing the right exchange for derivatives trading is critical for scalpers and day traders. The key indicator of a platform's reliability isn't the stated trading volume (which is often inflated through wash trading), but Open Interest (Open Interest)It shows the actual amount of funds locked in active futures positions. It's impossible to counterfeit—each contract requires real collateral.
Our rating aggregates data from all major derivatives exchanges in real time. Historically, the leaders in liquidity remain Binance, OKX And BybitTrading on exchanges with a high market share guarantees minimal slippage and tight order books, which protects against manipulative squeezes.
Pay attention to the "Market Share" column in the table above. When a specific exchange's share drops sharply, it may signal withdrawal issues or regulatory pressure. The opposite—a steady increase in share—indicates an influx of new users and growing trust in the platform.
How to choose an exchange for futures trading
Liquidity and depth of order book
The higher the volume, the denser the order book. Only top-5 exchanges are suitable for scalping with large volumes ($50K+ per trade)—on others, slippage will eat into profits.
Fees: Maker/Taker and Funding
The maker fee on most exchanges is 0.02%, while the taker fee is 0.04–0.06%. However, funding can vary: on less popular exchanges, funding rates can be abnormally high due to an imbalance of positions.
Number of trading pairs
If you're trading altcoins, make sure the pair you need is listed. Binance and offer 300+ futures pairs, while smaller exchanges offer 50–100. Visit the specific exchange's page for the full list.
Safety and Regulation
Since the November 2022 crash, traders have become more attentive to reserve transparency. Major exchanges publish Proof-of-Reserves monthly. Don't hold more on any one exchange than you're willing to lose.
